"Just You"- Once Upon A Sketch May!

Hello everyone!
Of course, the best theme for May is...what else?

Theme: Mum
We would like you to create a layout and interpret the theme "Mum" however you like based on the following sketch. You can journal as little or as much as you like, but your layout must incorporate this theme and the sketch.

Ideas for journalling: you as a mother, your role as a working/stay-at-home mum, sacrifices/benefits of being a mum, one day in your life as a mum, how your life has changed since being a mum, a tribute to your own mum, grandmother, guardian or someone you consider as close as your mum, your relationship with your mum or your daughter, one trait you have take from your mum, your desire to be a mum, your feelings on motherhood, what does it mean to be a mum?, what kind of mum do you want to be? , Mother's Day celebrations/traditions, your favourite Mother's Day gift given/receive etc..

This layout will be my present to my mother!!!

Tips & tutorial! ATTN: LONG POST!!!

As I promised, I will share with you a few tips and techniques that I used on the layouts I made for My Creative Scrapbook this month. Of course you can see more tips from the rest of the DT at the forum--->Here

I warn you! It is a Loooooong post! Take a cup of coffee or a drink and sit back!

To make this artsy background, you need a credit card or spatula and acrylic color. You dιp the card into the paint (it could be gesso as well) and start making moves up & down/left & right...
have you seen "karate kid"??? LOLOL Posted Image

To give a vintage feeling to your paper and really distressed look, you spritz it with water
Posted Image
and squize it gently with your hand!
Posted Image
After that, you apply distress ink using a foam pad to point out the wrinkles!
Posted ImagePosted Image

***
If you don't have a swirl that fιts your colors or design, make your own using stickles! To be accurate, use a stencil!

***
Well, I liked the chipboard's pale brown natural color but I wanted to highlight it a bit!
So I randomly inked it with two different shades of brown and covered it with crackle paint rock candy!

Posted Imageto make these beautiful vintage ruffles behind the circle.....

1) I cut strips from an old book,2) I use a border punch,3) I ink them with some brown distress ink, 4) with my fingers I press them randomly into ruffles, 5) I glue them around on the back of my circle!

I will show you step by step how to achieve this background!
Posted Image

1) Use a mask and dab a chalk ink or use a foam pad and distress ink above the mask (don't mind my finger..it is a mess..lolPosted Image) (Prima Mask)
Posted Image
2) Then use a mask and glimmer mist or chalk mist. you can use more than one colors!
Posted Image

3) Use a music or letter stamp with versamark ink and stamp randomly all around the paper
Posted Image
tip: I don't use an acrylic block for that, just my fingers! That way I avoid the square shaped stamping!

4) I have put coper embossing powder on the places I stamped and melt it with a heat gun.
Posted Image

5)Mix some gesso with black acrylic paint and dab it above a mask using a brush. That way you achieve some extra thick texture. (Prima Gate Mask)
Posted ImagePosted Image

6) I decided to use an extra mask (clock) and glimmer mists (gold and suede)

and this is the finished layout:

Berry 71 Bleu - "My name...Ioli"

Hello everyone!

I am sharing with you today the first layout I've made as a designer for the sweetest and talented person Marivic Clifton! Her tags are really unique! She has an excellent taste in gathering yummy little vintage embellies and she combines them to make the most chic tags and kits ever! You can find her tags at her "Berry71bleu" Etsy shop and the kits at "Zeus and Zoe" Etsy shop!
You must keep an eye though because they sell out fast!

I made a layout with a photo from my DD's baptism,

The background paper was all creme and I used a cut out paper as a mask and I misted with Tattered Angels Suede and Olive vine.

Here are a few close ups..

Don't forget to participate in our challenge this month based on this inspirational photo...

and our sponsor this month The Scrap Cake!

You have until the end of April to upload your project on the sidebar at B71B blog!
We would love to see your creations and get inspired!!!

I 1st saw them on the layouts of a few favorite scrappers of mine Melinda & Belinda! I fell in love! I was disappointed because they are based in Australia but when I asked them about the shipping cost, I was pleasantly surprised!!! They are so cheap!! Check out their store --->HERE
They load their store every month on a specific date and time so keep an eye for that on their blog!
They also have monthly challenges with very inspiring sketches that give you the chance to win some yummy goodies!!!
